Many seek to find the good in people but this philosophy offends God. Why? Because man does not reflect Christ in the flesh. Even Jesus said, "Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God." ( Luke 18:19)
He said this because they were attempting to find virtue in Him apart from God. Jesus was teaching them the same thing Apostle James wrote:
"Do not err, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." (James 1:16-17)
In other words, "Don't be deceived by your own hearts. There is nothing of value apart from Christ and so must faith remain joined to Him through the tokens if His Spirit which He issues from above."
These are the tokens of the spiritual priesthood of Christ to which we've all been called by Him. It through our joining to Him by faith through these things from above that we increase in His glory and virtue according to His own power and design.
So it is not wise to seek value apart from these things within ourselves or in others. Wisdom begins with God revealing Christ and continues daily as we learn how to remain joined to Him through the tethering and tutelage of His ministering spirits. (Hebrews 1:14)
