What happens when truth is not the fulcrum of our discernment? We interpret the scriptures in the light of ourselves (darkness) and not Christ (true light). This is idolatry and why we can't apply the scriptures to our life because the focus is our own issues.

This is the mystery of Christ. By His commandments (not the commandments of Moses) we know Him and weigh all things in equity: without contradiction (stumbling).
